Manager of Software Engineering - Java Full Stack (Java, React, AWS)new

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Asset and Wealth Management, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities

• Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
• Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
• Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

• Experience leading technology projects
• Experience managing technologists
• Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Practical cloud native experience with AWS
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
• Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Full stack Java hands-on developer
• Proficiency in designing and building cloud native application for AWS
• Knowledge on AI / LLM is an added advantage
